Why are we doing this fundraiser again?
We have already been asked this question from friends and family since we have started planning the second annual fundraiser. Why do it again? We love to answer this, because it’s important.
We’re doing this for another family, because of what God has done for us. Simply, we’ve been adopted into the family of God and experienced His goodness and love, and we can’t go back now. We don’t want to. In fact, we want everyone to experience it. His love for us has given us purpose, held us through the hardest times, and drawn us together as an earthly family and as the family of God.
When the call to adopt was placed in front of Cole and Kimberly, we were excited and terrified and didn’t really know where to start. We prayed and asked God what to do next. In obedience, we took the next step and attempted to help fund their adoption and find an expecting mother without the help of an agency. God is faithful. (And would still be faithful, even if He didn’t open the doors we wanted opened).
We saw so much good in so many things throughout the adoption process. We also learned that there is an alarming number of children, 13,000, waiting to be adopted in North Carolina right now. That statistic has not left my mind. It hasn’t left my heart.
God has blessed us immensely. We must accept that with an open hand and pass on what we’ve learned to the next family. The financial burden of adoption can be a huge hindrance for hopeful adoptive parents. Because that burden was alleviated for Cole and Kimberly by the fundraiser, they were able to focus on loving their sweet baby’s first mom and preparing for baby’s arrival. We want that same thing for another family.
